PMLA
volunteers include:
- "One-Day" Volunteers - volunteers can present awards to athletes, act as the
announcer, help with equipment repair and inventory, etc. This is a great
opportunity for individuals who want a small time commitment. All
volunteers are greatly appreciated even if it is helping out for just a few
hours.
- Event Coordinators/Management Team
Members - Event coordinators and
management team members work with PMLA Executive staff and other volunteers
to help organize and run exciting and successful sport events like the
Annual Laker Classic, and Year End Awards Banquet. Event coordinators or
management team members have the chance to plan, organize and run exciting
and successful events. With your help, the players’ experiences can
be competitive and positive.
- Office Assistants - Office assistants can help with filing,
copying, typing and large mailings. This is a very large part of submitting
the registrations on time for all players/coaching staff to be carded and
registered for the Box and Field lacrosse season.
- Professional Advisors - Professional services are always in demand. By
providing goods or services to the PMLA, you'll be raising awareness of your
business, plus working with a great group of fun-loving players and
volunteers.
Volunteers are needed as advisors to help with
specific areas of expertise such as public relations, bookkeeping,
fundraising, etc. By providing your expertise, you'll be raising awareness
of your business, while working with a great group of fun-loving athletes
and other volunteers.
-
Conveners – The Conveners are
responsible for the management of a House League division, which would
involve up to 120 players. Their job includes dealing with the parents and
the players, and coordinating a balanced division of up to 8 teams.
They attend the House League games each night their division plays in order
to see it runs smoothly, safely, and in a manner that is rewarding to all involved.
- Team Managers – Team Managers actually manage the team
activities by maintaining athlete records, monitoring finances for the
team, submitting game results to local newspaper, organization of hotel
accommodations for province wide tournaments, distribution and organization
of scheduled practice and game times, and fundraising. Team Managers often
find volunteers to assist in the many facets of managing the Team.
- Coaches/Trainers – Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Trainers have
the opportunity to help players train and excel in the game of lacrosse.
Coaches have direct contact with the athletes and help them grow in
confidence and ability.
