The PMLA Executive has been closely monitoring local and provincial COVID-19 updates and how they pertain to our 2020 Rep lacrosse season, as well as following the direction of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.
On Thursday June 11th, 2020 the Ontario Lacrosse Association made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Competitive season out of concern for the health and well-being of our lacrosse families and the greater lacrosse community. We understand some families may be disappointed by this decision, but given the uncertainty about Covid-19 we feel it is our duty to act responsibly and help safeguard the health of our players, families, officials and volunteers.
The PMLA Executive has directed a full refund of fees for our Rep players who registered for the 2020 season, however, we are also offering families the opportunity to roll their registration fees to the 2021 season as a credit on their account while at the same time locking in their fees at the 2020 rate.
The PMLA has a number of expenses each year including insurance, website hosting, bank/credit card fees, equipment purchases, maintenance and storage costs that must still be covered for 2020. Without a 2020 season, it will be exceedingly difficult for our Association to meet those financial obligations. In saying this, the PMLA wonders (if you are not rolling your fees to 2021) if you would consider taking only a partial refund to help offset our 2020 expenses. Please let us know if you can donate $20. Your donation will help ensure a season next year and help to reduce or eliminate the need for higher fees in 2021.
We ask that you please complete and submit the REFUND REQUEST FORM at the link below and we will then process your refund. Your refund will be credited back to the credit card used for the original registration payment. Please submit this form before July 3rd, 2020. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the administrative process of issuing over 250 refunds, which may take up to 4 weeks.
We know that this is disappointing news for many children in our community who were looking forward to playing the game they love. As an executive we share that same disappointment. At this time all we can do is look forward with optimism to seeing everyone on the floor again in 2021 for a season which is sure to be full of fun and excitement.

In light of ongoing developments and legislation, the OLA has extended the current postponement of in-person lacrosse activities until June 15th.
In an announcement on their website, shared with all member organizations, the OLA stated the following: "The OLA remains hopeful that this pandemic will be managed in the near future and that some sort of modified lacrosse season will be possible. All of our leagues fully understand that the only way to proceed is with the full approval and cooperation of the Province of Ontario, its health authorities and the municipalities in which we gather to play. At this point, we can say with confidence that there will not be any opportunity for in-person lacrosse activities (try-outs, training sessions, scrimmages, practices, games, etc.) to resume prior to June 15th, and the OLA’s Board of Governors has approved another 30-day extension of our current postponement, effective immediately and continuing until June 15th, pending further provincial directives and updates."
Complete details of the announcement and OLA planning can be found on the OLA website.
Along with the OLA, the Peterborough Minor Lacrosse Association wishes you and your family good health and safety while we work together to get through this difficult time.
